Coaching is a tool that is used to empower you and help you reach your goals.
During a coaching session I will ‘walk by your side’ to help you to reach your ultimate goal and aspirations. I will listen to you, ask questions, find out what your challenges are and inspire you to reach that end goal.
You will be encouraged to make decisions and take responsibility for these decisions.
What coaching is not
Coaching is not about me giving you suggestions or advice. In this respect it differs from mentoring or counselling.
If you commence a series of coaching sessions and it is deemed that coaching is not the correct support mechanism for you at this moment in time, I will discuss this with you to find a suitable solution to support your onward journey.
What kind of coaching do you do?
I am a calm yet challenging coach. I help my clients talk through issues in a structured way, enabling them to ‘see the wood for the trees’ and reach conclusions and decide on actions with a clearer approach than they would manage on their own.
My coaching style combines a down-to-earth, matter-of-fact approach with an intuitive ability to uncover deeper truths. This enables my clients to gain significant insights into themselves that previously they have been unaware of. My optimistic outlook and belief in my clients has helped them build confidence in their own abilities; I am enthusiastic and supportive in encouraging my clients to achieve their goals.
What will happen during a 1:1 coaching session?
My 1:1 coaching sessions are carried out over the telephone/SKYPE or face to face at a convenient time, date and place. The usual procedure is that you will call me.
You will be guided through a 6-point process.
Review the previous session and the actions that you completed
Set the goal for that session
Consider where you are at the present moment with this goal
Consider your options in meeting this goal
Agree on some actions
Summarise the session
Each session will be for about an hour depending on your preference (sessions can be from 30 mins to 2 hours). I will manage the timing of the session and ensure you gain full value from each session.
What does the coach need from me during a 1:1 session?
To make sure that your time with me is being well spent, you are expected to come to the session fully prepared and with a goal or aspiration in mind that you would like to work towards.
Preparation is very important for the coaching session so you are encouraged to spend 15 minutes prior to the session taking yourself to an environment where you will not be disturbed, with a drink and feeling refreshed to relax prior to the start of the session. You will also need to ensure that you have a pen and paper to hand and any other items that you may think will be useful such as a diary.
What kind of goals do you help people with?
Since the agenda for each coaching session is driven by you, we can work towards your goals whatever they are – an area of your work/home/business/community life where you want to improve what you are doing e.g. time management, planning, confidence, communication skills, raising your profile at work, raising the profile of your business, relationship building, team leadership – provided it is an area you have some control over and you are willing to take action (you can only be coached on what you can do).
I have a particular passion for helping professional women juggle multiple priorities across all areas of life and improve confidence and resilience by focussing on key issues and challenging limiting thinking.
Busy investment executive – coaching with me enabled her to create a better work/life balance while still creating more impact at work
IT professional – coaching with me helped her to reduce her level of stress by resolving conflict at home and at work
Small business owner – coaching with me helped her to make space for herself in order to have a richer, more fulfilling life
I don’t know what my goals are – can coaching help?
Coaching with me can help you to identify and articulate your goals, both in terms of your long-term vision and smaller bite-sized chunks that you can make progress on in the next week that will take you towards your long-term aims.
I will help you focus on your most important area of concern, define what you want and determine what ‘good’ looks like.

How does 1:1 coaching work?
Different coaches use different models to structure their sessions. I will be asking you questions, listening to your responses, challenging you whilst all the time remaining non-judgemental regarding the details and not offering you any advice. I will keep you moving forward towards your goal.
The timing, frequency and duration of coaching sessions is down to your preference. Most individual clients initially contract for 6-12 months support (consisting of sessions lasting between 30min and 2 hours every 2-4 weeks). Coaching sessions can be via telephone/Skype or face-to-face – telephone sessions are popular with busy clients who can take the session at work or at home, e.g. to fit in with family commitments.
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
Do you feel that currently you aren’t reaching your potential and feeling fulfilled?
Is there a gap of where you are now to where you want to be?
Do you sometimes feel you don’t have the skills, resources or confidence to get something complete?
Do you feel stuck and put off making decisions or fail to stick to those decisions you have made?
Are you ready to entertain new and fresh ideas?
Are you willing to be accountable for what you desire?
If you answer yes to any of these questions then coaching can most definitely support you in being the best that you can be.
How does coaching differ from counselling, consulting or mentoring?
Unlike consulting or mentoring, where the consultant or mentor is an expert who gives advice based on their own experience, I will draw out wisdom already within you so that you may discover solutions for yourself. After all, you are the expert in your life.
Unlike therapy, I am not going to ask you to delve deeply into your past. You drive the agenda – this means you don’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to talk about. You must however be willing to explore, to think differently and to stretch yourself.
Who else will know what has been said?
A coaching session is completely confidential. I agree and comply to the Coaching Code of Conduct and only in extreme circumstances will this confidence be breached. This includes the intent to cause harm to yourself or others or criminal acts.
Who is coaching for?
Coaching is for anyone who is currently not reaching their potential or feeling unfulfilled, for anyone who feels there is a gap between where they are now and where they want to be. Coaching is for people who are ready to entertain new ideas and to take action.
Being recommended for coaching at your place of work is a compliment. It is a sign you are on your way up and that you’re considered ‘high potential’ – it’s about fine-tuning the talents you already have.
Why do people hire a coach?
I will help you to get from where you are to where you want to be, quicker than you would alone. As your coach I can help you to identify your dreams and support you to take action to achieve your goals. I help my clients identify blockers, challenges and opportunities; I will ask key questions to unlock your potential.
Really being seen and heard by someone is very powerful and profound. It changed my life and it will change yours (see About Me page). Having an intuitive coach support you on a regular basis is empowering, inspiring and one of the best decisions you can make if you want to create more in your life and business.
I will challenge you to get out of your comfort zone, to grow and to accomplish your visions and goals. I am committed to your success and will encourage you to recognise and celebrate every accomplishment along the way.
