Does your coach ‘get’ you?

Are you considering hiring or choosing a coach?

Maybe you are currently not reaching your potential or feeling unfulfilled..?

Maybe you’re considering changing career..?

Maybe you’ve been recommended for coaching at your place of work..?

Embarking on coaching can be a big decision. If you are thinking of starting coaching, there are lots of things to consider when choosing your coach.

I think one of the most important is… does your coach ‘get’ you?

Does the coach ‘get’ you?

If you are choosing a coach, does the prospective coach:

see your strengths,
understand your challenge,
believe in you..?

A great coach will see your strengths, both those that you are aware of and those that you don’t see so well yourself. Coaching will help you to bring your strengths, skills and untapped potential to focus on your current goals and objectives.

A coach that ‘gets’ you, understands you and your challenge(s). As a result, they are able to help you articulate what it is that you want to achieve and what obstacles are in your way.

YOU are the expert on you!

Coaching is a tool that is used to empower you and help you reach your goals.

During a coaching session your coach will ‘walk by your side’ to help you to reach your ultimate goal and aspirations. Your coach will listen to you, ask questions, find out what your challenges are and inspire you to reach that end goal.

In each session, you will be encouraged to make decisions and take responsibility for these decisions.

Coaching is based on the premise that you are the expert on yourself and your situation.

A great coach will believe that you have all the resources and skills necessary to achieve success in the areas important for you.

How does coaching differ from mentoring?

Coaching is not about your coach giving you suggestions or advice. In this respect it differs from mentoring or counselling.

What is your experience of coaching?

What kind of coaching have you experienced? Did the coach ‘get’ you?

Did you feel empowered to reach your goals? Did your coach believe in you?
